The year 2020 of 13th Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Iloilo ended with a resounding performance by passing 42 ordinances, consisting of 35 Provincial Ordinances and 7 Appropriation Ordinances.

The Provincial Board has held 53 regular sessions, conducted 40 committee hearings and enacted 882 resolutions.

Unexpectedly, the Iloilo SP has gone this far of passing so many ordinances this year and this was more than the number of ordinances passed during the 11th Iloilo SP in 2013 to 2016 and 12th Iloilo SP in 2016 until 2019.

"The 13 Covid-19 related ordinances that we passed were the primary reason why we have these numerous enacted ordinances," Vice Governor Christine "Tingting" Garin said.

Garin acknowledged the active participation of the members of 13th Iloilo SP eventhough there is pandemic brought by Covid-19.

Meanwhile, 4th District Senior Board Member Rolando Distura considered the relationships of the members of 13th Iloilo SP as very cordial and very productive.”

"We have enhanced our ability on how to explain our ideas,  on being sensible in reasoning out and on being careful in the words that we are using," Distura said.

He added that the members of 13th Iloilo SP are all 'performance-oriented' and proof to this is 2nd District Board Member June Mondejar who has 'zero-backlog' in his committee reports.

On the other hand, 3rd District Board Member Matt Palabrica is thankful of being part of proficient and performing members of 13th Iloilo SP who are able servants of the people.

"I am very thankful to the cooperation of the Board Members and to the leadership of Vice Governor Christine "Tingting" Garin. Although we have a different beliefs, principles, and leadership styles, we still managed to perform because we respect the uniqueness of each other," said Palabrica.

He considers the current Provincial Board as 'active, responsive and people in action.' He is also grateful that their responsiveness alleviate the burden brought by covid-19 pandemic.

With regards to their relationships, he said that in the scale of 1 to 10, of which 10 is the highest, he gives a grade of 9 to the board members. Inside or outside the session hall, they have a good relationships. In the midst of political differences, being a gentleman or a gentle lady is shown with each other.

The shortcomings of a member are compensated by the other members. They are making extra efforts to each other when someone is celebrating a birthday by sending cakes to a fellow board members.

"For the past two Christmas celebrations, we held a Christmas party attended by all members of 13th Iloilo SP," Palabrica said.
