The Police Regional Office (PRO) - 6 head, Police Brigadier General Flynn E Dongbo commends the swift actions of personnel who selflessly rescued numerous families affected by flood across the region on April 11 and 12, 2022.
In the reports submitted by the Provincial and City Directors, many subordinate units and its personnel promptly assisted flood affected families. They were catered and immediately brought to safe places and evacuation areas.
The heavy rains induced floods brought about by Tropical Storm Agaton, despite that Western Visayas Region was not being included in areas with typhoon signal.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) issued an orange rainfall warning over Western Visayas past 11:00 in the morning of Monday, April 11.
During this calamity, the PRO-6 personnel are on full alert ready to respond to any call for assistance.
As of April 12, 2022, about 300 PNP personnel were deployed for search and rescue operations, 63 were assigned to evacuation centers and more than a hundred that conduct patrols on thoroughfares and vacated areas; and monitor the flood and landslide prone areas.
Aside from its manpower, PRO-6 logistics were utilized such as four- wheeled patrols, trucks ropes, axes, chainsaws and other available equipment.
“Maraming salamat sa inyong pagiging alerto at agarang pagtulong sa mga nasalanta nating mga kababayan. Ang inyong mabilis na tugon sa dikta ng sitwsayon ay napakahalaga. Pero ang lahat ng ito ay hindi natin nagagawa kung wala ang malakas na ugnayan natin sa ating mga Lokal na Pamahalaan at iba pang ahensya ng gobyerno na matibay nating kaagapay sa mga panahon ng kalamidad.” Said PBGen Dongbo.
The PRO-6 will continue to closely monitor the current situation. It also assures the general public that all units and its personnel; and resources are on stand-by and ready to provide support to those who will be in dire need of rescue and assistance in this time of calamity.
