Today, November 27, 2022, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines will turn over the Jaro Belfry after a year of its restoration.
It was built in 1744. It was made of bricks and limestone rocks. It served both as a religious structure and as a military watchtower against invaders, including the Moros, during the Spanish colonial period.
The earthquake that struck Panay Island caused destruction to the Campanario de Jaro.
