"Trust starts with a trustworthy leadership. It must be built into the corporate culture. Yes, we will be trusting our culture for us to promote progress and development for our league and our country," said Garin.

Trust, under her term, is anchored on the acronym of PEACE which means:

P - Promote clean, transparent and honest governance for Four-L Philippines.

E - Engage Unity among members of the Four-L Philippines through inclusive

                  and participatory governance.

A - Accountability is a priority; Officer of the League must be held accountable to its                              members.

C - Capacity Development among Lady Legislators of the Country.

E - Empowerment of Women and Children through Social Legislation.

"We will translate our vision into reality, and we will create a conductive environment where every member will be given an equal opportunity to be heard and participate in every action we have taken in the organizations," Garin added.

The overwhelming support extended by the members from all over the Philippines contributed to the huge success of the event.

Garin was honored and humbled by the message sent through a letter by Vice President Sara Duterte congratulating the new set of officers and all the members of Four-L.

"This event marks women legislators' rising strength and prominence in our nation, highlighting the importance of inclusivity and diversity in public office," Vice President Duterte said.

"Let us work together to make our government more representative of the people by bringing women legislators' unique perspectives to the political process," the statement added.

Meanwhile, a video message by President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. of the Republic of the Philippines was witnessed by the delegates congratulating them on their successful holding of the summit.

"This gathering is a perfect opportunity to collaborate with one another to pass local laws and ordinances that are also in line with the national development agenda," said by President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. in his video message.

"Let us ensure that our fellow Filipinos, especially women and children, are provided with equitable access to education, to health care, and other socio-economic opportunities. May you have a very productive summit," he added.

To recall, last May 16, 2023, during the Regional Forum of Four-L Philippines, Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. also acknowledged the role of women in politics and society.

"We had gone pass with the issue on gender equality. It is in our political system, in our constitution, and we have already two women presidents," said Defensor.

Defensor said that women legislators need a focused attention on the requirements that we are facing in local government, especially on the area of gender-oriented legislation.

The latest fate of Iloilo Vice Governor Christine “Tingting” Garin as newly elected President of Four-L Philippines is a manifestation of her sterling leadership here at the local level and is now elevated to the national level.

Garin, now serving her third term as vice governor, ran without opposition in the latest local elections. It’s the same fate when she ran as president of Four-L Philippines, also with no opposition.

Iloilo Vice Governor Christine “Tingting” Garin is an Ilongga who carved her name in history leading a national organization of lady local legislators.
