ELECTIONS NOT A DISTRACTION TO 13TH ILOILO SP

The presiding officer of the 13th Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Iloilo believes that the elections could not distract the public service they are rendering to the people of the Province of Iloilo.

Vice Governor Christine "Tingting" Garin, through radio program Sanggunian In Action, expressed that even the two years of pandemic has not caused any significant distraction to their functions and duties.

"Each member of the 13th Iloilo SP strived to attend their sessions, in fact we always have a quorum," Vice Governor Christine "Tingting" Garin said.

She said that this year is a big challenge for them not just because of pandemic but because of election season.

"We have seen that even after filing the certificate of candidacy of our board members they already roamed around their constituents, they became diligent even as early as October, but nothing has distracted us. I know they are all dedicated to serve,' Garin added.

She thanked the board members Marcelo Valentine Serag and Renee Valencia from the 1st district, Rolito Cajilig and June Mondejar from the 2nd district, Jason Gonzales and Matt Palabrica from the 3rd district, Domingo Oso, Jr. and Rolando Distura from the 4th district, Carol-V Espinosa-Diaz and Nielito Tupas from the 5th district, Dorothy Paes of the Liga ng Barangay, Ramon Sullano of the Philippine Councilors' League and Bianca Requinto of SK, that despite the challenges from last year but still they have strong relationships, helped each other and strived to pursue and continue the works of Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

Despite of so many challenges, they surpassed them all and with this she is thankful to her colleagues from the 13th Iloilo SP.

This year is another challenge for 13th Iloilo SP because of elections even though most of them will become members of 14th Iloilo SP. Most of them have no political opponents.

To continue the strong bonds between them is still a challenge because of the involvement of many political parties and the fact that there will be new members coming.

"I believe that whatever majority we have right now will remain and so with the good relationships of SP. I'm thankful to the SP family, to Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. who was a partner of SP and to all who helped and joined for the 13th Iloilo SP.

Vice Governor Christine "Tingting" Garin is also grateful because she will run for re-elections as vice governor without an opponent on May 2022 elections.

"I would like to thank the people and to Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. for the continued support and for the trust and confidence," Vice Governor Christine "Tingting" Garin said.

Likewise, she also expressed her gratitude to the five district representatives who are 1st District Congresswoman Janette Garin, 2nd District Congressman Mike Gorriceta, 3rd District Congressman Lorenz Defensor, 4th District Congressman Braeden John Biron and Cong. Ferj Biron, and 5th District Congressman Boboy Tupas, and some mayors and colleagues at Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

"I will do all my best to continue serving the people, to strive more for this year and for the next term," Garin added.
